Fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala 2024 held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, came to an end on the 7th of May 2024 gathering many stars and their fashion together. The theme for this year’s Met Gala was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” showing how technology can invigorate garments that are too old and fragile to be worn again. Going with the theme of this year’s Met Gala while adhering to “The Garden of Time” dress code, which is inspired by a short story of the same title written by J.G. Ballard, guests ascended the museum’s steps. From dresses to backdrops, everything and everyone was decorated and clad in florals to techno-inspired patterns and fashion which showcased the dystopian undertones of the theme.
Although this year’s Met Gala carpet was not necessarily red, the stars outshone the green carpet with their glamorous looks. Let’s check out some of the most outstanding looks at Met Gala 2024.

Florals, unsurprisingly, proved to be the motif look of the night. Zendaya appeared on the carpet in two stunning looks; including her custom Margiela look with the peacock palette and a vintage Givenchy dress all-black look paired with an entire bouquet of flowers on her head. Nicki Minaj stunned in a Marni dress adorned with hand-painted metal flowers, while Gigi Hadid looked like a floral dream in a three-dimensional ballgown by Thom Browne. Adwoah Aboah stole the show with the night’s best maternity look – a vibrant red floral H&M ensemble featuring a crop top and a flowing skirt. Alia Bhatt turned the heads on the red carpet with a floral saree that was hand-embroidered with semi-precious stones, glass beads and silk floss by Sabyasachi. Meanwhile Ariana Grande and Erivo waled the carpet together with a white Loewe gown and a Thom Browne outfit featuring pink petals and scattered insects.

However, the dresses surpassed the focus on floral with dresses such as Lana Del Rey who brought forward a mother nature presence in a veiled Alexander McQueen look with an antlered headpiece, paying homage to the late designer’s iconic fall 2006 collection. Tyla was clad in a sand gown—an extremely fitted Balmain gown that was like a second skin, which was so delicate which made Tyla to be brought up the stairs by two men. Similarly, the next outfit that gasped the audience was a silver Maison Margiela by John Galliano, a dress with a corset so extremely cinched, worn by Kim Kardashian. Cardi B had the biggest outfit for the day, a black bespoke gown by Chinese designer Windowsen, which had to be carried on by 9 men.

Moving on to gentlemen of the night, Bad Bunny (in Margiela), Josh O’Connor (in Loewe), Morgan Spector (in Willy Chaverria), and Stefon Diggs (in H&M) were some of the well-clad men at Met Gala 2024.
After many such stunning looks, the red carpet ended but did not end the surprises, bringing more head-turning looks to the Met Gala afterparty. Likewise, the Met Gala 2024 was a night of blooming boldness, where stars embraced the theme with creativity and used this platform to make a statement. As we wait for the behind-the-scenes glimpses and detailed looks to emerge, one thing is certain – the “Garden of Time” will continue to bloom in our memories.
