Career Fair 2025: Where Ambitions Take Flight

The Professional Development Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya successfully executed Career Fair ’25, our annual flagship event in collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit. This year marked the successful 16th installment of this initiative, aimed at enhancing employability and creating meaningful career opportunities for undergraduates.

Career Fair ’25 was a collaborative effort involving four other university clubs – AIESEC, Leo, LED, and Gavel. The event was structured across four comprehensive phases designed to maximize student engagement and professional development opportunities.

The first phase featured eight Career Open Days conducted between January 22nd and February 28th, 2025. Leading organizations including MAS Holdings, Unilever, Abans, Brandix, Northsails, Sunshine Holdings, BAUR & CO PVT LIMITED, and Keells facilitated on-site interviews and internship opportunities. The overwhelming response resulted in an average of 248.5 CVs submitted per open day, leading to over 1,695 interviews. We also conducted an online interview with Advice Lab on February 5th, demonstrating our commitment to accessibility and modern recruitment practices.

Our second phase comprised seven career-focused workshops conducted by industry professionals. These sessions covered essential topics including CV writing, LinkedIn optimization, interview tactics, corporate etiquette, personal career planning, and personal branding. Each workshop attracted over 200 participants, reflecting students’ enthusiasm for professional development.

The Main Event, held on March 5th at the Faculty of Computing and Technology, brought together 11 prominent companies from diverse industries. Each company was allocated a dedicated interview room, creating an ideal environment for professional interactions. The event saw participation from over 500 undergraduates across all faculties.

Career Fair ’25 concluded with a closing ceremony on March 12th, graced by Snr. Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and keynote speaker Mr. Rolf Blaser, CEO of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. The ceremony featured the launch of our comprehensive Career Fair Magazine, edited by Rtr. Delishia Fabian, which documented the journey and provided valuable resources for students.

Through this collaborative achievement, the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya successfully bridged the gap between undergraduates and industry, providing valuable exposure, guidance, and opportunities for professional growth.
