Writing Maze 2.0: Weaving Words, Empowering Lives

The Editorial Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya once again brought creativity and purpose together with the successful execution of Writing Maze 2.0. This literary initiative culminated in the publication of The Maze of Tenfold Tales“, an anthology featuring ten captivating short stories crafted through the collaboration of 25 writers from 08 Rotaract and 02 Interact clubs around Sri Lanka. More than just a platform for young writers, the project was also a charitable endeavour, using literature as a means to make a positive impact on society.

The primary objective of Writing Maze 2.0 was twofold: to encourage young literary enthusiasts by providing them with a space to showcase their talent and to raise funds for a noble cause. Through book sales, the project successfully raised Rs. 60,000, which was donated to Vidyasadhaka Maha Vidyalaya in Wattala, supporting the library facilities of underprivileged students. Additionally, in an effort to expand accessibility to literature, a copy of The Maze of Tenfold Tales was donated to both the Colombo Public Library and the University of Kelaniya Library, ensuring that more readers, including students and literature lovers, could benefit from this creative effort.

The anthology featured ten short stories, each reflecting diverse themes and unique storytelling styles. These stories were written in collaboration with the following Rotaract and Interact clubs:

  • The Cradle of Dusk – Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya
  • The Treasure Under the Willow Tree – Rotaract Club of Cinnamon Gardens
  • Hanthana Walauwa – Interact Club of Colombo North

The grand book launch took place on March 30, 2025, marking the culmination of months of dedication and teamwork. The event was graced by Dr. Vivimarie Vanderpoorten, a distinguished Sri Lankan poet, who attended as the Chief Guest, while Rtn. PP Vishwa Lokugamage, Executive Secretary of the Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown, was present as the Guest of Honor. Their presence elevated the occasion, inspiring writers and attendees alike with their words of encouragement.
