Project අරුණාලෝක began with a topic we received through the RotaTomorrow 5.0 competition to bring awareness and sustainable energy solutions to underprivileged communities under the theme “Expanding Affordable Energy Access for Sustainable Communities”. But it transformed into so much more: a journey of learning, empowerment, and green revolution. Through two powerful phases, we collaborated to transform meaningful ideas into strong realities.
Phase 1 – Awareness Session on Efficient Energy Utilization
Before providing any support to communities, we believed it was essential to first raise awareness among the society. That’s why, under Phase 1 of Project Arunaloka, we took a vital first step by educating the younger generation; the school students –about the importance of renewable energy and sustainable livingwhich was held on 12th March 2025 at Dompe Devi Balika Vidyalaya. In this initiative of ours is like lighting a spark for our project. We conducted an engaging awareness session led by the expert guidance of Mr. Asela Ruwan Kumara, an RECP Specialist and Environmental Consultant. With generous support from our in-kind partner Fonterra, we made sure the session was both educational and refreshing. The students asked questions, and embraced the importance of energy conservation. The session wasn’t just educational. it was energetic, interactive, and unforgettable. Students actively engaged with the activities and showed genuine enthusiasm throughout the program. Their feedback reflected how meaningful the session was to them, and it felt even more heartwarming and satisfying at that moment that our initiative was a success.
Phase 2 – Solar Panels and Rechargeable Lights Distribution for Community Empowerment
On April 11th, 2025, we launched the second phase by taking real action. In selected communities with limited access to electricity, we distributed solar panels to provide lighting, phone charging, fan operation, and other basic needs. This initiative didn’t just improve comfort and safety. it opened new doors for education, communication, and economic resilience. It was a proud moment to witness how renewable energy could transform lives, homes, and futures.
The Eco Vanguards – More Than a Team, a Family
Behind every successful project lies a dedicated team and we are proud to be the Eco Vanguards. From planning to execution, every step was filled with laughter, hard work, challenges, and moments that defined who we are. We supported one another, shared ideas with openness, and stood by each other when things got tough. What made us stronger was not just our roles, but the bonds of trust, respect, and genuine friendship we built.
Together, we weren’t just executing a project. We were making an impact, creating memories, and proving that even the smallest actions, with the right spirit, can make the biggest difference.
