Word Wave – Team 08 – StriveX

WordWave is a project organized by StriveX (Team 8) as part of Rota Tomorrow 4.0. Designed to bolster students’ language proficiency and foster effective communication skills, WordWave embarked on a transformative journey across multiple phases.

The first phase of the project unfolded as an immersive English Language development camp, hosted at Ambagaspitiya M.V., drawing the enthusiastic participation of over 500 school students. Spanning a dynamic 10-hour curriculum, the camp addressed the Speaking, Listening, and Writing competencies of students ranging from grade 6 to 11.

Departing from traditional methods, the camp prioritized engagement and interaction, providing students with a refreshing approach to language learning. The language camp was conducted by 5 assistant lecturers from the Department of English Language Teaching, and Miss Sahassara enriching the program with diverse expertise and perspectives. This collaborative effort further enhanced the quality of the camp, providing students with a well-rounded and engaging language learning experience.

Transitioning to the second phase, Ambagaspitiya M.V. received a set of books for their language room, ensuring students had ample reading materials to aid their language development. This donation aimed to facilitate self-directed learning and supplement classroom instruction.

In the project’s concluding phase, a French language seminar was organized and conducted via zoom, drawing the participation of over 30 undergraduates eager to broaden their knowledge. In this workshop, Miss H.W. Pinsari Saubhagya, a linguist and educator, led the session with her expertise, fostering a dynamic learning environment where participants were able to engage deeply with the nuances of the French language. Through interactive sessions and expert guidance, attendees delved into the intricacies of the French language, enriching their understanding of linguistic diversity and cultural exchange.

WordWave has left a lasting impression on its beneficiaries, resonating positively with students, teachers, and undergraduates alike as it endeavors to enhance language proficiency. By focusing on practical language skills within a supportive learning environment, the project has made strides in empowering students.
