Rota BrainTease: Where Creativity Meets Community

In an era where attention is the new currency, the Public Relations Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya took a bold leap into the digital landscape with a project that would not only expand their reach but also create a ripple of cultural, social, and emotional impact. Enter Rota BrainTease—the very first major initiative under PR Avenue, executed over an impressive 8-month journey that blended creativity, community service, culture, and cause-driven content.

Launched on 19th August 2024 and culminating on 29th April 2025, Rota BrainTease became more than just a PR campaign. It evolved into a movement of voices, visuals, and values, powered by a passionate team of 13 organizing committee members and led by visionaries in public relations.

The vision behind the Tease

In a world where attention spans are shrinking, Rota BrainTease sought to expand reach, amplify voices, and create content that resonates. The Public Relations Avenue set out with a clear mission: enhance visibility, build public engagement, and strengthen relationships within and beyond the club.

With a team of 13 energetic and talented organizing committee members, guided by PR directors and the assistant secretary, Rota BrainTease brought their mission to life—one reel, voice cut, and smile at a time.

Phase-by-Phase highlights

International Dog Day

  • Celebrated on August 24, 2024

Kicking off the project on a high note, our team collaborated with Embark, the renowned animal welfare organization, at the Good Market, Colombo 07. We engaged in pet care awareness, volunteer work, and even met Mrs. Otara Gunewardene, founder of Embark, who generously shared her time and wisdom. Voice clips, reels, and TikToks captured the essence of the day—fun, purpose, and heart.

  • Highlight: Otara shared our visit on her Instagram, skyrocketing our visibility!

World Teachers’ Day

  • Celebrated on October 4, 2024

On this special day, our members gathered at the Cyber Ground to prepare personalized notes and flower bundles for university lecturers. • Plan multilingual content to expand outreach.
  • Launch future podcast series or monthly lives with experts.

A tribute to the team

Led by Co-Chairs Rtr. Geyathi Abeynayaka and Rtr. Sineth I. Bandara and brought to life by a dedicated OC under the mentorship of Rtr. Amali Nilaksha and Rtr. Chamangi Weerasinghe, this project was not just about “doing PR.” It was about living it, feeling it, and creating something that mattered.

From late-night Zoom meetings to unforgettable field visits and trending TikTok challenges, Rota BrainTease became a collective memory stitched together by passion, purpose, and people.

At its core, Rota BrainTease wasn’t just a project—it was a platform. A platform where young Rotaractors celebrated diversity, addressed taboos, promoted education, and built empathy through every post, every video, and every initiative.

And now, with a legacy firmly in place, the path is clear for the next wave of PR storytellers to carry forward the flame of creativity, community, and connection.

Because when stories are told right, they don’t just inform—they inspire.
