‘Lefties’ also ‘Besties’!
August 13. Yeah! It’s something special for left-handers. Every year on August 13, we celebrate International Left Handers Day, a day dedicated to the special group of people who use their left hand for most of their activities. These people are very rare around the world.
Left-handed people are meeting their everyday tasks more difficult. Even simple things like using scissors, desks, etc. can be a real struggle for lefties. Mostly many products are manufactured focusing on right handed people. So, lefties often need to adopt these circumstances.

However they also have many strengths and talents. Studies have shown that left handers may be more creative and better at problem solving, as well as most of their handwriting is also very beautiful. Throughout history, many famous people have been left handed.
Despite, historically left handed people have often been misunderstood and even discriminated against. In many cultures, left-handedness was considered unusual or unlucky, and left-handers were often forced to use their right hand for tasks like writing. Over time, as society became more aware of the diversity in how people use their hands, attitudes began to change.
The celebration of International Left Handers Day began in 1992, initiated by the Left Handers Club in the United Kingdom. The club wanted to create a day that would bring attention to the everyday difficulties that left handed people encounter, such as using tools and devices designed for right-handers. By dedicating a day to left handers, the aim was to encourage the creation of more inclusive products and environments that accommodate everyone, regardless of hand preference.
Still, left handers continue to face unique challenges in a right handed world. Hence, this special day is a chance to celebrate their resilience and remind everyone to be more inclusive and accommodating. Whether you’re left handed or not, let’s celebrate this special day to remind the contribution of this unique group of people!
