International Day of Peace

“Peace begins with a smile.”
-Mother Teresa-

Where is the peace in the world? Honestly, sometimes it feels like people are itching to fight rather than lending a helping hand. Wars keep popping up here and there. The saddest part is how many innocent lives are lost from tiny babies to grown adults. It breaks my heart into pieces. How can this happen? Most of the time, politics are the main reason. But let’s be real, people also fight with their neighbors over the smallest things. That’s why I believe peace has to begin at home. If we can’t keep peace under our own roof, how are we supposed to spread it across the globe?

But first, what is peace? Peace is not just the absence of war. It means living without fear and treating each other with respect. In other words, peace is when your mind is quiet and your surroundings feel safe.

Every religion, no matter where you look, has taught these values. Christianity shows us through Jesus how love and forgiveness go hand in hand even when he was killed. Buddhism teaches compassion as the path to peace. Hinduism, through deities like Ganesha and Saraswati, emphasizes wisdom and harmony. Different roads but the same destination.

Peace isn’t rocket science. The truth is, if we treat others with kindness, most problems can be solved before they even begin. Just imagine if everyone dropped their weapons and helped each other. It would be a completely different world.

So, on this International Day of Peace, let’s not just talk but act with kindness. Let’s begin with small steps, helping friends, forgiving mistakes, and sharing a smile. At the end of the day, real happiness is found in peace.
