Mr. and Miss University 2025, organized by the Professional Development Avenue of the Rotaract Club of the University of Kelaniya, proudly emerged as a flagship initiative dedicated to holistic youth development. Designed to be far more than a conventional pageant, the project aimed to nurture confidence, leadership, discipline, and professionalism among undergraduates across Sri Lanka, shaping them into socially responsible and future-ready individuals.
At the heart of the initiative lay a powerful motive: empowerment through transformation. From the initial auditions to a series of intensive workshops, fitness training programmes, grooming sessions, and structured rehearsals, participants were guided through a carefully designed journey of self-discovery and personal growth. The project placed strong emphasis on personality development, communication skills, resilience, and ethical leadership, reinforcing the belief that true success is rooted in character, purpose, and values rather than appearance alone.
The grand finale which was held on the 07th of December 2025 at Dharmaloka Hall, University of Kelaniya beautifully reflected this vision through a thoughtfully curated programme that blended cultural pride with contemporary elegance. The Batik Wear and Evening Wear segments showcased individuality, confidence, and refined stage presence, highlighting the participants’ growth throughout the project. The event was evaluated by an esteemed judging panel led by Ms. Prathiba Liyanaarachchi, Miss Sri Lanka 2025 for Miss World, alongside Mr. Brian Kerkoven, Mr. Kamil Hewawitharana, Mrs. Rukshani Fernando, Mr. Piyumal Pattuwearachchi, and Ms. Visna Fernando. Their collective expertise added credibility, depth, and meaningful mentorship to the competition.
Adding further prestige to the event was the presence of Amandha Amarasekara, Mr. International 2018, along with other renowned personalities from the industry. Their participation served as a source of inspiration for the contestants, offering valuable exposure and motivation drawn from real-world achievements and professional experience.
The impact of Mr. and Miss University 2025 was most evident during the Question Round, where finalists demonstrated remarkable confidence, intellectual clarity, composure, and critical thinking. These moments reflected the true success of the project, showcasing individuals who had evolved not only in presentation but also in mindset and self-belief. The crowning of Selani Dharmarathna (NSBM) as Miss University 2025 and Promod Dilshan (Wayamba University of Sri Lanka) as Mr. University 2025 stood as a powerful symbol of excellence shaped by dedication, perseverance, and personal development.
