With the purpose of promoting personal hygienic practices in the community due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation, the Community Service avenue of the Rotaract club of University of Kelaniya initiated a project “Clean Hands” while performing a social responsibility on the 18th of September 2020.

“Clean Hands” was a sustainable water and sanitary solution oriented due to the lack of proper sanitary facilities in some selected low facilitated schools in the rural areas in Colombo district. Eight high quality and durable paddling sinks were distributed among the following schools after the recommencement of schools.

Hemamali Balika Vidyalaya

Mahabodhi Vidyalaya

Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya

The project “Clean Hands” undoubtedly had a positive impact on school children to take the precaution against the possibility of spreading the virus among the school community. On behalf of the Rotaract club of University of Kelaniya, this is an opportunity to acknowledge our generous sponsors who supported us financially and all the participants who helped to succeed the project.
