My journey with Rotaract started very unexpectedly. When I first entered university, joining a club was never part of my plan because I thought it would make my schedule too busy and affect my studies. But one of my closest friends, Lihini, who was an active Rotaractor and also the Co-director of the International Service Avenue for the 2024/25 term, kept encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone. Since she knew how much I loved designing, she convinced me to join the club. Honestly, that became one of the best decisions I made during university life.
During my second year, I joined Rotaract as a general member under the International Service Avenue. My first projects were Diversea, We Care 2.0, and Echoes of Ceylon, where I worked as a PR Coordinator creating designs, flyers, and video content. Through these projects, I not only improved my creative skills but also got to meet so many amazing people and build friendships locally and internationally.

After gaining those experiences, I decided to apply for the Directorship of the Digital Media Avenue. Even though I had many doubts at first, I was selected as a Co-Director for the 2025–2026 term. Working with my fellow co-directors, Sithika and Nadeesha, honestly became one of the funniest and most memorable parts of my Rotaract journey. Even though we had never worked together before, we somehow managed to survive all the chaos together.
Out of the three of us, Sithika was definitely the one who carried the Digital Media Avenue most of the time. Especially during my exam periods, when I disappeared for weeks trying to focus on studies, he managed everything perfectly, projects, deadlines, posts, literally everything. Meanwhile, Nadeesha was naturally difficult to find most of the time. I still believe the main reason he joined Rotaract was to find a girl rather than handle projects. Even though there was apparently a whole “list,” I do not think he successfully completed that mission yet. But jokes aside, he was genuinely one of the most supportive and talented people in the team, especially when it came to technical work.
Then comes our overlooking EXCO member, Kareema Quadiry, who honestly did way more than what her role required. Officially, she only had to guide the three of us, but she was also handling work as the Director of the Digital Media Avenue while somehow still managing to help us with everything. No matter how busy she was, she never said no whenever we asked for help. She was always active, energetic, and ready to support us. I feel like her long Rotaract journey has taught her so much, and you can really see that experience in the way she handles people and situations.

I should also mention our TLs, Indusara, Pamodya, and Thilini. At the beginning of the term, they were everywhere, active, energetic, and constantly involved with the avenues. But later on, seeing them became harder than finding free WiFi on campus.
One of the most special experiences in my Rotaract journey was becoming a mentor for Rota Tomorrow 6.0 under Project Thirasara. Since it was completely new to me, I was nervous at first, but mentoring a team and seeing everyone’s dedication made the whole experience unforgettable.
I am especially thankful for my team leaders, Kasuri and Suneth, along with my co-chair Lisara and the whole Team 06. Kasuri is honestly one of the most talented and capable people I have worked with. She somehow manages to do everything perfectly, and there were times when even I depended on her because she was just that reliable. She has so much potential, and I am genuinely proud to have had her in my team.
Suneth, meanwhile, was probably the cutest and most wholesome boy we met during the project. But apart from being adorable, he was also someone who handled every responsibility seriously and always made sure his work was done properly. He was always supportive and dependable no matter what.

As for Lisara, she turned out to be one of the sweetest people I met through Rotaract. Before working with her, I honestly had no idea what she would be like, but she was incredibly humble, kind, and easy to work with. She made the whole experience much more comfortable and enjoyable for everyone around her.
I also want to thank Melani and Kaveesha for all their support and contribution towards Project Thirasara. Their help and effort really played a huge part in making the project successful.
Under the leadership of President Himantha Sayuru and Secretary Delishia Febian, together with the entire Executive and Director Boards, my Rotaract journey became something truly unforgettable. What started as something I never planned to join eventually became one of the most meaningful and memorable parts of my university life.
