CollabFest’25 was a dynamic five-phase initiative organized under the Regional Engagement Avenue, bringing together multiple Rotary and Rotaract entities with a shared vision of service, collaboration, and meaningful community engagement. This joint initiative included Rotary Club of Colombo Port City Gen Connect, Rotaract Club of Jaffna Midtown, Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University – Badulla, and the Interact Club of Mahanama College. Designed to foster unity across regions while addressing diverse social, educational, environmental, and cultural aspects, CollabFest’25 successfully demonstrated the power of collective action.
Phase 1: Beach Cleanup
The first phase of CollabFest’25 was a beach cleanup held on the 19th of October 2025 at Mount Lavinia Beach. Members from the collaborating clubs gathered early and worked together to clean the shoreline. Plastic waste and other debris were collected and properly disposed of, contributing to a cleaner and safer coastal environment.This initiative reflected our shared responsibility towards protecting the environment and demonstrated how collective effort, even through small actions, can create meaningful impact.
Phase 2: Online Session on Data Analytics Tools
The second phase was an educational initiative conducted on the 22nd of October 2025 via Zoom. The session on Data Analytics Tools was delivered by Mr. Hasitha Gangodawila, who provided valuable insights into modern analytical platforms and their practical applications. Participants gained exposure to emerging tools and techniques that are increasingly relevant in today’s data-driven world.
Phase 3: Hike
The third phase of CollabFest’25 was a hike to Narangala organized together with the Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University – Badulla on the 26th of October 2025. The hike provided participants with an opportunity to connect with nature while strengthening inter-club relationships. Overcoming physical challenges together fostered teamwork, resilience, and camaraderie among members, making it both a memorable and bonding experience.
Phase 4: Diwali Celebrations
On the 5th of November 2025, the fourth phase brought members together to celebrate Diwali alongside the Rotaract Club of Jaffna Midtown. This celebration highlighted the importance of cultural appreciation and unity in diversity. The event created a platform for members to share traditions, joy, and meaningful moments, reinforcing the spirit of inclusivity and mutual respect within the Rotary family.
Phase 5: Visit to a children’s orphanage
The fifth and final phase of CollabFest’25 was a visit to the Peter Weerasekara Children’s Home in Gampaha, held on the 24th of November 2025. This heartfelt initiative focused on bringing joy and support to the children through interaction, donations, and shared experiences. The visit was centered on sharing meaningful moments and extending support, reminding us that service is not only about projects, but about genuine human connection and compassion.
CollabFest’25 was more than just a series of projects; it was a meaningful journey of service, fellowship, learning, and cultural exchange. The success of this initiative would not have been possible without the dedication, enthusiasm, and teamwork of the organizing committee and all participating clubs and members.
