Rotaract Journey of Rtr. Kareema Qadiry

In life if what you think happens there won’t be a thrill and this part of kick in life was originated with the urge to join clubs and turned out as not expected!

Let me take you to the very start, as I first stepped into Rotaract I was originally selected for the International Service Avenue as per my preference. Started with my first project being Edu Bridge from the RE Avenue. Grateful to both of my directors, Ishini akka and Imesha akki for selecting me as a PR Coordinator throughout my roles I had been promoted to many PR roles with this project’s completion. Then after that I had the IS Avenue overlooking VP Himas ayya and the directors Lihini akka and Ruvinath ayya, also TLs Pruthivi, Anuji and Chamodya akka along with Arosha, Nilakshi, Jithmini akki, Ashmi, Nadun, Rashmi many more to name.

Being able to complete projects such as Edu Bridge, Rota Romp, Merge, Diversea, We Care 2.0, Spotlight, Ekhos of Ceylon, Harmony Across Horizons and Rota Tomorrow within the first term brought something more than just memories but people together.

Not long after becoming the TL, I was able to be one of the chairs of We care 2.0, the OC bond was incredible as we worked together not through positions, but as a team.

My whole life changed with just one project:)

A year passed with no regrets but with memories and heavy hearts I’m closing this chapter, the urge to stay here forever never limits.

Then comes the second year felt like an entire reset to my life.

Was selected as an Assistant Secretary along with my girl Anuji under the guidance of Delishia akki (Secretary) and under the leadership of Himantha Ayya, the president for the year 2025-2026.

DM Avenue

First should thank all of them for doing so much for this club. Sometimes I think of it as they gave it all even with pressures, deadlines, ups and downs in their life. At first I was a bit afraid to talk and that day itself yasho akki came cracking a joke breaking that awkwardness. The group was wholesome, active as always and nonstop laughters  filled with funny stuffs to talk about.

Grateful to have them, Sithika ayya as the core of this team I know for sure even when things turn around he’s there to bring it back taking up the projects on hand and building an entire website no joke. Would say DM’s Father.

And Nadeesha whenever I’d text his reply would be so quick and our PR Head id say, the backbone of making everything if he takes up that role. I used to think how can one be so fast yet so talented. Handling the entire PR of Career Fair. Hed gradually pop up ask the work finish it off.

And the one who keeps up cracking jokes to keep the bond close as this. Her Canva skills are top notch youd never expect a flyer to be made in Canva from her. Like at the beginning I was wondering how can there be a person this creative in making all the stuff. And she went to RT building up an entire enthusiastic team. That’s, Yasho akki.

Building up Media Unit along with the projects Media Spark and Pixels, the graphic designing competition should thank Mahen ayya and Avishna ayya for handing it over. And also a thanks to my TLS Thilini, Pamodya and Indusara exactly our hidden gems. Wont forget our sudden meetup and catchups spending times for it all became memories we carry.

PR Avenue

I can start off saying two bulletproofs theyre the core of this avenue.Couldnt have asked for anyother. I cant event imagine it without them.

Pawan has a strong aura at where he stands like no worries hed handle it. But if it comes to pressurizing him alone hed get annoyed. Taking up all the PR related works like Career Fair and PR Calendar Im so grateful for it. Sulani akki her tiktoks were making my day I used to watch and laugh it was a stress relief. And I got those downloaded to rewatch. Should say without their knowledge on marketing and influencers Id really find it difficult to manage coz I wasn’t in the PR Avenue or related to any PR. The project Prevail was taking place at that time and the chair Asindi did a great work standing strong as always as she is. Would also like to express my gratitude for the way she handled never stepping out being a TL along with devindi literally got the contacts of resource persons and even it was finalized I never had to look into it.

Another great opportunity I received in my life thanks to Rotaract, is the opportunity to be the Chief Editor of the Career Fair 26 organized by the Career Guidance unit of University of Kelaniya together with the Rotaract club leading it with the assistance of LEO club, LED KLN and Gavel club of university of Kelaniya. Met my magazine co-editors here Narmada, Hiranya, Halana and Vimanshani akki in the team. Their pressure was higher than mine.
The people I got through working in the projects were immense and the memories exceed it. Although with ups and downs I appreciate their way of handling me with such care forever grateful to Rotaract for giving me the best people.

A message to Rotaractors take care of Rotaract just like a home for how much you give to it, it gives back the double which you can never imagine. Signing off with a heavy heart.

Viva la Rotaract!
Rtr. Kareema Qadiry,

Assistant Secretary 2025-26
