The project IDYEP 2019 was a project in which delegates from Pune were welcomed by the Rotaractors in the District 3220 to ink their hearts with an unforgettable experience and memories. The project took place from the 16th to 20th of October 2019.
The Rotaract club of University of Kelaniya was fortunate enough to take part in this project. The Rotaractors from Pune who joined with this project were Rtr. Avadhut Patil from the Rotaract Club of Panvel Sunrise, Rtr. Sarabdeep Singh from the Rotaract Club of Pune Hillside, Rtr. Tanishka Jadhav from the Rotaract Club of Aundh, Rtr. Priyanka Dhamale from the Rotaract Club of Pune Mideast and Rtr. Sonal Jain from the Rotaract Club of Pune Camp Next Gen.
They were able to tantalize their taste buds with a decent Sri Lankan cuisine including Kottu, Hoppers, String Hoppers and Lamprais while they also experienced an excursion in Sri Lanka. Being a country that is well known for hospitality, we were able to express our warmest and heartiest service of love and kindness throughout their stay.
The excursion was focused on Colombo, Kandy, and Negombo. The errand around Colombo included places of historical and religious value such as the Temple of Gangarama and of course shops that displayed the Sri Lankan authenticity through their products such as Laksala and Spa Ceylon. As their next destination, Kandy, the hill country with beautiful landscapes and the gem of Sri Lankan culture was enjoyed by them. The delegates were taken by bus from Colombo to Kandy which gave them an exposure of the mundane lifestyles of Sri Lankans. The destinations that were included in the kandy visit were the Bahirawakanda Temple,University of Peradeniya, and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
The Kandy visit lasted for two days and on the next they headed off to Negombo by train. The visit included to a church that was bombed during the foray which happened a couple of months back on the Easter Sunday. The journey ended after they spent some quality time at the beach since the flight to head back to their home was scheduled on the very same night.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who collaborated in making this memorable programme a success and something to remember for a lifetime. The impeccable experience they gathered with the expedition was noteworthy as the delegate, Rtr. Sarabdeep Singh from Rotaract Club of Pune Hillside has stated in his article of how he felt about the little adventure!
