11th Charter Day Celebrations

In celebrating the successful journey of 11 years of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, the 11th Charter Day was successfully held on 3rd June 2021, via Zoom platform in the presence of the Secretary of District Rotary Youth Service Committee Rtn. Sulochana Vanniasinkam, the President-elect of the Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown Rtn. Nishantha Goonaratne, the District Rotaract Representative, Rotaract District Steering Committee, Past Presidents of the club, current and past members,  friends in Rotaract and friends of  Rotaract.

President Rtn. Rtr. Nipuna Rambukkanage delivered the welcome speech by highlighting the importance of commitment, hard work, and teamwork of individuals, which has made the club reach this position over the years. He also appreciated the guidance and immense support given by the past Rotaractors, members of the club, fellow Rotaractors, and non-Rotaractors in making this journey a successful one.

Next, Rtr. IPP Rivi Wijeratne was invited to address the gathering. Recalling the days of his Rotaract years, he spoke about how the club progressed from its initial stages up to the stage it is now. Then, respectively DRRN Rtr. Ahmed Hussain, IPDRR Rtr. Krishan Balaji, DRC PDRR Rtn. Amjad Yousuf, DRR Rtn. Rtr. PP Kasun Sigera and President elect of Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown, Rtn. Nishantha Goonaratne addressed the gathering about the teamwork and the commitment from the Rotaractors even through this pandemic.

Our very own Rtr. Malithi Loshini’s and our guest performer Ms. Ashka Kulathunga’s soulful voices made the event more enchanted. Despite not being able to cut a cake to celebrate the 11th birthday of our club, immense joy was shared among all the members, fellow Rotaractors, past Rotaractors, non Rotaractors and the guests who were present. Finally, the program concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by our incoming President Rtr. Kisal Ekanayake appreciating all the individuals who have helped and contributed in numerous ways to bring up the club to a higher position.
