Breathtaking Photography Contest

Through the fellowship built up by the letterhead exchange, the Rotaract Club of Daffodil International University in Bangladesh invited us to collaborate in their ongoing joint project titled ‘Breathtaking Photography Contest 2.0’. It was an initiative taken by the Rotaract Club of Daffodil International University in cooperation with the Rotaract Club of Colombo Central, Rotaract Club of Jaffna Peninsula, Rotaract Club of DSPSR, Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, and the Rotaract Club of Khairpur Dates Valley.

This contest was based on an award ceremony which was held on the 19th of August 2022. It is noteworthy to mention that this competition was organized with the intention of celebrating World Photography Day. Also, the contest was organized under two categories namely, mobile photography and camera photography. As the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, we got the opportunity to implement the PR campaign of this joint project. Accordingly, after suggesting an organizing committee, we began to work on the project from 08th of August. Finally, it was launched successfully with the flyer series along with the catchy caption series. The competition was closed on the 16th of August with 600+ amazing submissions highlighting vivid stories of imagination, nature and also some daily lifestyle from every corner of the world.

The most significant event, the award ceremony of ‘Breathtaking Photography Contest 2.0’ was held on the 19th of August 2022 with the participation of the members from the host club and the co-host clubs. These incredibly amazing clicks were judged by Mr. Ehsanul Siddiq Aranya who is s senior software engineer, and gold medalist photographer in Bangladesh. Among 600+ submissions, the selected photographs for the finals were displayed on the screen during the session. Then, the winners of the contest were unveiled during the award ceremony. Accordingly, ‘Silence of a Soul’ by Sriram Rajeswaran from the Rotaract Club of SLIIT was awarded as the winner of the mobile photography category and the photograph, ‘Bird on a Tree’ captured by Chamika  Manathunga was crowned as the winner of the camera photography in Sri Lanka.

The contest was a motivation and an inspiration for all the young photographers all around the world while unveiling their wondrous and unique potential to the world. While expanding the epithet of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, we were able to create bonds beyond boundries.
