Monthly Update – December 2021

Month  December  for  the term 2021-22 of RACUOK was filled with many outstanding  projects  and activities launched by community service avenue, Club service avenue, International service avenue, professional development avenue along with the Editorial, club relations, digital media and public relations teams.

Starting a happening month for the RACUOK Project ‘Dayada’ which was launched by community service avenue was held  on 8th of December at Ragama medical faculty premises from 9.00am onwards .Upon the request of national thalassemia organisation Rotaract club of Colombo west together with the Rotaract club of university of kelaniya  organized the ‘Dayada’ blood donation campaign to fulfil the current  requirement of blood  which was successfully concluded with about 42 donors kind contribution.

And also community service avenue raised funds for the phase  3 of their heart warming project ‘little hands’ through promotional flyers. project little hands was launched under the main project of ‘Stop the spread beyond Covid 19’ which was initiated by Rotaract in Rotary international District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives. Under the phase 1 and 2 of the project With the  purpose of assisting the effort to reopen schools by making donations to the education sector donations and gifts were given away to the students of Katukurunda  St.Mary s collage physically according to the Covid 19 health guidelines.

With all these wonderful projects striving to make a change in society Club service avenue worked hard to raise the spirits of club members  by making  the  festivity of Christmas alive with the kringle eve 21 this year as well. Club service avenue organized the Christmas fellowship  ‘’KRIS,KRINGLE  21 ‘’ to strengthen the bond between members and to break the monotony of their busy lives. The project was done in two phases. First phase was and online tik tok competition which was open to all the undergraduates of the university where they were encouraged to make a creative video related to the Christmas. And from the number of wonderful video contents received most popular video from both rotaractor and non rotaractor categories, most creative video, most talented video was selected and  rewarded with gifts and the ’’ Guess  our Santa’’ competition was held alongside  where two winners were selected from the participants at  the final event. Finally  KRINGLE EVE was held gloriously on 28th of December with the glorious performances by renowned guest artists as well.

Along  with these amazing projects on motion International service avenue continued the promotions for their wonderful magazine about women empowerment ‘Athena’  through out the month and ended  the campaign on 31st of the month December.

Professional Development avenue conducted the last session of their interview series for the job roles of administrative officer and software engineer on 4th of December  successfully concluding the project giving many undergraduates a many valuable experiences. Project ‘view me’ was conducted by the professional Development avenue  with the purpose of improving self esteem and confidence of participants to face a job interview by giving them a real life interview experience with professionals in their fields.

Club relations team sent out the flyers about together SL project to raise the awareness about the importance of the project. Together SL project has been organized by the Club Relations team in collaboration with 11 other Rotaract clubs in the area under the guidance of District rotaract club of Rotary district 3220 to Make the Negombo lagoon area a cleaner place by installing Dustbins where necessary. 

Digital media  team continued the  their wonderful work with creating and overviewing all the birthday flyers, special day flyers  and members  of the month flyers along with the project flyers and videos all through the month.

And the Editorial team continued the special day article series with wonderful articles focused on all the special days in remembrance for the month.

Member relations team released their album of avoid Delta project on 3rd of December  followed  by the launch of the magazine of the project on 26th December which carried all the wonderful  captures of memories  and details of the project.

And the winners of  ‘What if’ short story competition were announced under the categories of most popular, Most creative of both Sinhala and English categories in the month December as well. ‘what ‘ is and innovative short story competition launched by the editorial team  to enhance the creativity of fellow Rotaractors.

Amidst these activities public relation team recruited two Rotaractors as birthday and special day coordinators after conducting a briefing session for them. And also all the hard work of Public relations team throughout the month December has been able to increase the number of follows and likes on clubs Tik tok account exceeding 2000 follows. And it was evident that the clubs audience in all social media platforms has significantly grown over past months by the statics provided at the monthly general meeting. A short campaign targeting the importance of linked in as a volunteer through a tutorial and a instagram trend relieving memories of the year 2021 was also released on 31st December by the Public relations team as well.

Monthly general meeting for the month December and ddr visit was held on 16th of December and district rotaract representative Rtn.Rtr.Akhila Wijethunga graced us with his presence for the meeting .At the end of the general meeting Directors of the month, Avenues of the month, Team leaders of the month, Members of the month along with the most enthusiastic members of the month were announced praising all their hard work towards the greater causes were appreciated and they are as follows.
