The Club Relations Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya organized an entertaining collaborative project along with two other Rotaract clubs.
The Phantom Movie Night was organized by the Interact Club of St. Benedicts College, the Rotaract Club of Institute of Information Technology and the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya as a joint project to uplift the fellowship among the three clubs and strengthen bonds. The movie night was held on the 19th of March at Home Tree Co-Working Place Colombo, gathering all horror movie lovers on a gloomy Sunday evening.
The theme of the movie night was horror, and going in line with the theme, the movie “A Quiet Place 2” was selected to be screened. To give a brief about the movie; it’s a mystery and thriller-based 2021 American horror action film written and directed by John Krasinski, based on the characters by Brian Woods & Scott Beck and it is a sequel to the 2018 film, ‘A Quiet Place’. It stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe reprising their roles from the first film, while newcomers Cillian Murphy, and Djimon Hounsou stars in supporting roles while John Krasinski returns a reprising role. This film follows closely on the family from the first film as they continue to navigate and survive in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind aliens with an acute sense of hearing.
The project was a huge success because of the efforts and contribution of all three clubs. Each club managed to successfully fulfill all the tasks that were delegated to them. The unity among fellow members within the clubs as well as the enthusiasm shared for this project helped in delivering a great outcome.
Looking at the roadmap of this successful project, first the organizing committee was announced on the 15th of January 2023. From that day onwards the organizing committee brainstormed ideas to make this movie night a success. Endless amounts of meetings and discussions were carried out in all ends but surely those meetings were always full of fun and never boring! On the 4th of February the logo of the Phantom Movie Night was released followed by revealing the movie name on the 14th the of February; Valentines Day. And then all other proceedings followed effortlessly, and the tickets were released on the 17th of March2023. The movie was successfully screened on the 19th of March 2023 with the participation of many enthusiastic horror lovers.
In addition to screening the movie, to build fellowship prior to the movie night a small icebreaker session was organized to get everyone to know each other better and to interact more with fellow Rotaractors. These memories were captured by two photographers who were present at the event which will surely help to keep these memories of a historical fellowship event forever in our hearts!
Phantom was definitely an amazing, fun-filled experience with an essence of horror to cherish lifelong. Stay tuned until another fabulous initiative by the Club Relations Avenue of RACUOK is unveiled.
