Rotaract Journey of Rtr. Harith Jayanath

I became a member of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya in May 2021, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. As the co-director of the Digital Media Avenue, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow members and create engaging content that raises awareness for various Rotaract initiatives. I’m grateful for the chance to contribute to the club in this capacity and to learn from others.

Throughout my time as a Rotaractor, I’ve been involved in organizing and participating in several projects and events that have made a positive impact in the community. These include Rota Sonduru Saajje, HearMe, the 12th Installation Ceremony, ATHENA, Kris Kringle Christmas Party, Down the Wicket 2022, Project Little Hands, and Rota Tomorrow. I’ve learned so much from these experiences, including how to work as a team and take on responsibilities that have helped me grow as a leader.

One project that stands out to me is the Katuwa project, where I was a part of the research team. This project aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of single-use plastics and the importance of proper waste disposal. It was incredibly fulfilling to be a part of something that could make a real difference in the world.

As the team leader for the Digital Media Avenue during the 2020-21 term, I learned the importance of effective communication and the ability to delegate tasks to others. I am proud to have been a part of such a dedicated team of individuals who were passionate about creating meaningful content.

In summary, my time with the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya has been transformative. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone looking to develop their leadership skills, meet like-minded individuals, and make a difference in their community.
