The most meaningful two years of my university life were the two years I spent in Rotaract. I joined the Rotaract Club during my second year, almost by chance, when a friend encouraged me to become a part of it. During my school years, I had been very active in extracurricular activities, so when I entered university, I initially wanted to take things easy and enjoy a more relaxed life. That’s why, in my first year, I didn’t engage in any extracurricular activities at all.
One day, a friend told me, “Someone like you truly belongs in Rotaract.” With a little push from them, I decided to join and that decision changed everything.
My main avenue was Club Service, and my very first project was “Christinzel ’24.” More than just a project, it became a space where I met an incredible group of friends. Those friendships have remained strong and meaningful even today. It was truly one of the projects I enjoyed the most in my life.
My second project was “Rota Wasantha Udanaya 2025,” which, in many ways, brought a new spring into my life. Through this experience, I learned how to work with people, how to take on leadership roles, how to face challenges with confidence, and how to truly enjoy life. It was a turning point that shaped who I am today.
Beyond that, I also contributed to projects like RT 5.0 and Jingle Joyland. We were fortunate to have three incredible directors who guided and inspired us throughout our journey. Their leadership motivated me to give something back to the club that had given me so much.
With that in mind, I took a step forward and became a Director in the Sports And Recreational Activities Avenue (SR). That year became one of the most transformative periods of my life. It taught me the true meaning of responsibility and leadership. I had the opportunity to meet many amazing individuals, some of whom became very close to my heart.
As a director, I guided projects such as DTW, Spotlight 4.0, and EvolveX 2.0, working closely with many talented members. Also as a mentor, I guided Project හරිත සවි in RT 6.0 comeption. I was also proud to introduce EvolveX 2.0 as a new project to the SR Avenue. Throughout this journey, I was supported by an incredible co-director and a dedicated Vice President. My success as a director would not have been possible without the hardworking and talented team within my avenue.
Most importantly, Rotaract taught me how to manage my life how to balance responsibilities, handle stress, and stay in control even during challenging times.
Looking back, my Rotaract journey truly brought a beautiful “කැළණි වසන්තය” into my life. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me and walked alongside me in making this journey so meaningful.
It is a chapter filled with love, unforgettable memories, and countless lessons,a chapter so special that it can never truly be concluded. Without a doubt, my Rotaract journey remains one of the most beautiful and irreplaceable parts of my life.
