World Rotaract Day

Do you know what Rotaract stands for?

Although being a combination of the words “Rotary” and “Interact” (International + Action), the name “Rotaract” actually stands for “Rotary in Action,” the high school level program established by Rotary International in 1962.

Rotaract was founded in 1968 as a Rotary International youth program at the Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has now expanded into a significant global organization with over 203,000 members in 189 nations and 10,680 chapters worldwide.

Since its establishment, the Rotaract movement has expanded widely across the club providing the magnificent opportunity for youth to engage and interact with one another who shares the passion of volunteerism. It bears immense significance due to the reasons of providing the platform for individuals to learn, enhance their leadership and professional skills, unveil their potential, build connections within and beyond geographical frontiers and most importantly Rotaract is a platform to serve the community and build a better tomorrow.

 The unofficial Rotaract Motto is established to be “Fellowship Through Service” which also adds importance to self-development.

A Rotaractor

A Rotaractor is a member of the Rotaract Club. But, the meaning and feeling to be a Rotaractor inherit a much deepened definition. A Rotaractor extends his or her time and effort to provide community service to both local and international communities. A Rotaractor possesses the passion for volunteering and sharpens his or herself while developing social, professional, communication and many more skills.

Rotaract In Sri Lanka

Since its introduction to Sri Lanka in 1969, Rotaract has grown to encompass more than 90 clubs with geographic representation in 8 administrative provinces and almost 8000 passionate Rotaractors.

The Rotaract in Rotary International District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives is the administrative body of the Rotaract Clubs Island-wide, providing guidance and insights to upgrade and maintain consistency of the excellent service rendered by the clubs.

World Rotaract Day

The World Rotaract Day is commemorated annually on the 13th of March with the objective of raising awareness about the endeavor and work which is being continuously done by Rotaract Clubs across the globe.
