Rotaract has been the pivotal point of my life. Before embarking on my Rotaract journey at the University of Kelaniya, I had no prior experience with Rotaract or Interact clubs. However, in 2021, I decided to join the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, marking the beginning of an enriching journey. I chose to join to the ‘Member Relations Avenue’ as my Technical Avenue and the ‘Sports and Entertainment Avenue’ as my Main Avenue. This initial term, 21-22, was the beginning of my journey.

In particular, my involvement in the ‘Member Relations Avenue’ played a significant role in shaping my skills. It was my first time applying for an organizing committee, and to my surprise, I was appointed as the Project Chair for ‘AvoiDelta.’ This project holds a special place in my heart as it not only provided me with valuable experience but also introduced me to a circle of talented individuals who became my first friends at university. Alongside ‘AvoiDelta,’ I also contributed as a designer to the unforgettable project ‘Down the Wicket,’ although ‘AvoiDelta’ remained the foremost in my memories.

The following endeavor, ‘RotaTomorrow 2.0,’ offered me the opportunity to join both the organizing committee and the competition team under the team ‘INSPIRO’, leading the project ‘GreenEscape’ as its project chair was a stroke of luck that I cherished. Each project I participated in introduced me to new faces and reinforced my love for Rotaract. Following the success of ‘GreenEscape,’ I transitioned to the ‘RotaTomorrow2.0’ Event Committee as a Project Coordinator. The camaraderie we shared during late-night planning sessions and the joyous moments spent together are etched in my memory forever.

In the subsequent Rotaract year, 2022-23, I took on the role of Co-Director of the ‘Member Relations Avenue.’ Collaborating with my supportive counterpart, Rtr. Yashodha, we spearheaded two remarkable projects, ‘RotaRomp 22’ and ‘RotaTomorrow 3.0.’ These experiences enriched my journey further, leaving me grateful and proud of our achievements. As my second term drew to a close, I made the decision to extend my Rotaract journey, despite the academic demands of my final year at university.

In term 23-24, I embraced the role of Sergeant-At-Arms of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya. This term offered me a different set of experiences and responsibilities as an Executive Committee member. Despite the academic workload, I dedicated myself to fulfilling my duties to the best of my abilities, gaining insights into every facet of the club.
As I conclude my three-year Rotaract journey, I am filled with gratitude for the skills learned, memories cherished, networks forged, and friendships nurtured. I owe a debt of gratitude to all those who supported, guided, and befriended me along the way. Rotaract, to me, is synonymous with love.
