A Heartfelt Tribute to the Queens in Our Lives!

In a beautiful collaboration that spanned across regions, the Rotaract Clubs of University of Kelaniya, Kandy, and Trincomalee came together to celebrate one of the most cherished days of the year—Mother’s Day. The project, named “Queen,” was not just a tribute to mothers but also a testament to the power of love and strength. This initiative provided a platform for members to express their heartfelt appreciation for their mothers through creative writing, culminating in a memorable virtual movie night.

The project “Queen” was launched with the noble intention of honouring the queens in our lives—our mothers. Members from the three Rotaract Clubs were invited to participate by sharing their favourite moments with their mothers or composing poems dedicated to them. The response was overwhelming, with members pouring their hearts out in touching stories and poems. These submissions were then published on the clubs’ social media platforms, allowing a wider audience to join in the celebration and appreciation of motherhood.

The highlight of the project was a virtual movie night on May 12th, International Mother’s Day. The chosen movie for the evening was “Amma Kanakku,” a Tamil movie that wonderfully shows a mother’s love and dedication. This movie was a perfect choice, capturing the essence of a mother’s unconditional love and dreams for her children. The movie night was held via Zoom, allowing members from all three clubs to come together, even if virtually, to share in this collective experience.

The film “Amma Kanakku” was an excellent choice, resonating deeply with the theme of the project. It beautifully captured the essence of a mother’s unconditional love, her dreams for her children, and the lengths she would go to ensure their happiness and success. Watching this movie together fostered a sense of unity and shared emotion among the members, reinforcing the bonds within and between the clubs.

The “Queen” project was a great success, not just because of its execution but because of the genuine emotions it evoked. By providing a platform for members to express their love and appreciation for their mothers, the project touched hearts and strengthened the sense of community. It showed the power of collaboration and the importance of honouring the special people in our lives.

The teamwork between the Rotaract Clubs of University of Kelaniya, Kandy, and Trincomalee in the project “Queen” set a wonderful example of how we can come together to celebrate and appreciate our loved ones. This project was a reminder of the profound impact mothers have on our lives and the importance of expressing our gratitude.

In the end, the “Queen” project was more than just an event; it was a celebration of love, gratitude, and togetherness. The Rotaract Clubs of Kelaniya, Trincomalee, and Kandy truly showcased the beauty and power of coming together to honour the queens in our lives.
