Rotaract Journey of Rtr. Vishmi Pranama

What began as a simple decision to join Rotaract gradually turned into a journey filled with purpose, growth, and unforgettable memories. The early days were about understanding the environment and finding a place within a community that was constantly moving and evolving.

The first year itself brought opportunities to step forward. Being part of Christinzel 2023 and Rota Romp created the first real taste of coordination, teamwork, and execution. At the same time, taking on responsibilities in projects like Demons Night and ආරම්භන, along with serving as co-chairperson of Rota Tomorrow, introduced the balance between leadership and accountability at an early stage.

The second year carried a deeper sense of involvement. Project Edu Bridge stood out as a meaningful initiative that highlighted the value of contributing to something beyond expectations. Alongside this, being part of editorial work, translations, and reporting shaped patience and consistency, showing that impact is often built quietly behind the scenes.Projects like Influencia, Finwave add more colour to the journey.

It was also during this time that Project Pariwarthana became a special experience, an initiative centered on drug rehabilitation and mental health. The energy behind the project remained strong throughout, largely due to the constant support of our Mentor Amali and the dedication of fellow team leader Sithika, who together formed the backbone that kept the project alive and impactful.

Much of the growth experienced was closely tied to the Regional Engagement Avenue. Projects like Coast Guards, Haritha Siripa, and Jingle Joyland were not just initiatives, but collaborative efforts that reflected teamwork at its best. The guidance and support of co-pillars Dinithi Akki, Ishini Akki, and Inesha Akki, along with the commitment of fellow organizing committee members and team leaders, played a significant role in shaping these experiences.

Being recognized as the Most Outstanding Team Leader of 2024/2025 became an unexpected yet meaningful milestone, reflecting the journey of effort, resilience, and consistency.

Stepping into the third year as the Director of the Regional Engagement Avenue brought a new perspective to leadership. With the strength of Team RE 2025/26 guided by overseeing EXCO member Anuji, alongside Co-Director Eranda, and supported by dedicated team leaders Tanuri, Suneth, and Hiranya, the journey became one of shared responsibility and collective success.

CollabFest’25 stood as a defining project, designed across five phases. Among them, the hike and Diwali Celebration at Jaffna became the most memorable. Just a week before the hike, heavy rains created uncertainty, raising the question of whether it should go forward. After several discussions and difficult decisions, the choice was made to continue, with responsibility shared among the three of us. By grace, the day unfolded under clear skies, allowing the experience to turn into something truly special filled with connection, exploration, and the beauty of nature.

Another meaningful collaboration came through Mentora, a project carried out together with the Editorial Avenue, further strengthening the value of working across avenues.

Looking back, this journey was never limited to roles or projects. It was shaped by people, challenges, and moments that demanded growth. Each experience added a new layer of understanding, turning the Rotaract journey into a story of resilience, leadership, and lasting impact.
