Every little act of kindness, though it may make us feel like a mere drop in the vast ocean of humanity, possesses the enchanting power to illuminate the world through the eyes of another.

“Charity”  is defined as generosity and helpfulness especially toward the needy or suffering. But is that all?

Charity is the magical act of sharing kindness and spreading joy as you give or help the lives of others is lightened and the hearts of you yourself is immersed in elation of witnessing the pure smile and joyous tears of another. Isn’t that what charity is all about? Sharing love and joy!

The establishment of the International Day of Charity aimed to raise awareness and rally individuals, non-governmental organizations, and various stakeholders worldwide to actively engage in acts of volunteerism and philanthropy. Its purpose is to inspire and mobilize people from all walks of life to extend a helping hand to those in need, fostering a global culture of compassion and solidarity. Through volunteer efforts and charitable endeavors, this significant day seeks to make a positive and meaningful impact on the lives of others, promoting a spirit of selflessness and collective action for the betterment of our global community.

The date of 5th of September holds special significance as it serves as a commemoration of the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, an extraordinary personality who was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. Mother Teresa’s remarkable efforts in combating poverty and alleviating suffering were recognized as crucial contributions to the pursuit of peace. This day is a tribute to the unwavering service of Mother Teresa towards the poor and though she passed away on the 5th of September 1997 her legacy of compassion and service continues to inspire millions of people worldwide.

The International Day of Charity invites us to celebrate the essence of humanity through acts of kindness, reminding us that even the simplest gestures can have a profound impact, and it also serves as a reminder that charity should not be limited to a single day but must be celebrated by all citizens of Earth for an eternity.
