Imagine a world where young minds from different countries join hands to tackle some of humanity’s most pressing issues. This vision became a reality through a remarkable initiative – a collaborative effort that transcended borders and embraced a shared purpose. But what exactly was this project, and how did it achieve so much?

This article delves into the inspiring story of Dhaara 2.0 which wasn’t just about raising awareness; it fostered a platform for Rotaract Clubs across borders to unite and create a tangible impact. The project kicked off on February 12th, 2024, with an initial meeting between the two founding clubs. The momentum grew further on February 21st with a meeting for interested participants, ultimately welcoming the Rotaract Club of Galagotia, India, to the fold. This expansion solidified Dhaara 2.0’s commitment to international collaboration.
The Rotaract Club of the University of Kelaniya championed SDG 5: Gender Equality. They organized a thought-provoking awareness session featuring Ms. Nilupama Wickramage, Assistant Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya. This session explored critical issues surrounding gender equality, empowering participants to become agents of change. The Rotaract Club of PDEU turned their focus towards SDG 4: Quality Education. “Career Guidance for women Unnati”, aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for quality education, was successfully conducted to empower women through education and equip them for careers. The Rotaract Club of Galagotia tackled the comprehensive goal of SDG 3: Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Well-being for All at All Ages. Their multi-faceted project encompassed a health check-up camp, a mini blood donation drive, and an initiative called “ANN” to address food security amongst underprivileged communities. Additionally, they organized an awareness session on mental health issues, a project named “Sapno Ki Udaan 3.0” to educate and donate sanitary napkins to underprivileged girls and women, and finally, an educational program aimed at informing citizens about government social welfare schemes.
Project Dhaara 2.0 culminated in a grand closing ceremony held on April 16th, 2024 via Google Meet. The ceremony not only marked the project’s successful conclusion but also served as a platform to recognize the most impactful initiative. This emphasis on collaboration and achieving multiple SDGs simultaneously solidified Dhaara 2.0’s legacy as a beacon of youth-driven change.
Project Dhaara 2.0 stands as a shining example of how young minds, armed with passion and collaboration, can create a positive impact on the world. It serves as a model for future Rotaract initiatives, inspiring young people to bridge borders and work together to achieve the SDGs, building a more sustainable future for all.
