Rotaract Journey of Rtr. Sineth Neththasinghe

Each of us in Rotaract has our own unique journey and story to tell. I came to know about Rotaract while I was in school. I was a member of the Interact Club during that time and all I knew about the Rotaract Club was, it is an organization which serves the community.

I joined the Rotaract Club during my first year of university. I was not an active member in the beginning. It’s strange, but true, that the most important turning points of life often come at the most unexpected times and ways. In my opinion, Rota Tomorrow 2021 was the watershed moment of my Rotaract journey. Project ‘Filmadora’ is my first ever project which was done under the project ‘Rota Tomorrow’, and it boosted my confidence as it won a district award for ‘the most outstanding initiative in line with Rotary areas of focus’. It aided my advancement to the position of Finance Director of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya for the Rotaract year 2021-22.

When it comes to the most memorable projects, “Investors 2021” has a special place in my heart. It was a tremendous success, and it became the project with the highest participation among all other projects of our club. Apart from that, “Investors 2022” was also a success. As the final project of the Rotaract year, I contributed as a mentor for Rota Tomorrow 2.0: Team Inspiro. Project Green Escape was completed as part of that, and it reminded me of my first Rota Tomorrow memories.

Through these experiences gained, I was able to become familiar with the film industry, the Colombo Stock exchange and diverse kinds of personalities. More experiences, events, projects, fun activities and challenging moments came throughout the year. Before the end of the year, I could feel the difference, I could see the steps of growth and development that I had climbed ahead by simply joining Rotaract.
