World NGO Day

“We are not put on this earth for ourselves but are placed here for each other. If you are always there for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you.

-Jeff Warner-

In a world where everyone is running their own race of achieving ‘success’, which is defined in their own way, the meaning of life relies upon supporting and helping each other complete their life. It is not the monetary benefit that may be spent out but a wealth that will last for a lifetime is gained by serving the fellow citizens of earth; the satisfaction that is lightened with the spark of joy that glitters in the eyes of those who are in need.

An NGO is defined as a non-profit organization that operates independently of any government, typically with the purpose of addressing a social or political issue. In simple terms, it is a group of people who join hands together with the objective of making the world a better place with their team effort, commitment, and passion for volunteerism. NGOs engage in a variety of activities, such as human rights, social, and environmental activism. On a large or small scale, they can seek to advance social or political change. NGOs are essential to the growth of society, the enhancement of communities, and the encouragement of citizen participation. The Anti-Slavery Society, founded in 1839, was considered the first international NGO Organization.

The World NGO Day is observed annually on the 27th of February with the purpose of acknowledging, commemorating, and celebrating the vital contributions and significant effects that these autonomous organizations have had on the globe. This day spotlights the significance of NGOs and their function in international development.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

-Margaret Mead-

NGOs indeed strive to bring in that special change to the society which everyone looks ahead into the future with a ray of hope, to cherish a world free from poverty and hunger while equality and compassion towards each other embrace the globe.

Let us appreciate the untiring efforts of NGOs which constantly serves the community and extend our support in every possible way to enhance this novel endeavor.

“We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.

-Mother Teresa-
