With the noble desire of serving the humankind, the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya which was given life and spirit in the year of 2010, by a group of young hearts have come a long way passing milestones in its legendary journey. After 9 years of its exemplary mission, the club had its 10th Installation Ceremony on the 21st of September 2019, at the Lighthouse Auditorium and Lawns.
Achieving excellence through acts of love and kindness aimed on a common goal is always in the heart of Rotaract.Therefore, with the aim of striving forth for excellence, the theme ” Embellish Excellence ” was selected as the theme for the year 2019/20. As a club that promotes better friendships, true sense of fellowship, and a better world for all, we strive as one family to make use of the energies and potentials we possess.
The ceremonial event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Vice President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown Rotarian Shaheen Carder and the distinguished invitees. Followed by the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by the project chairperson Co- director Club Service Rtr. Poornima Aththanayake.
Next, the Secretary’s Report was presented by Rtr. Minduli Welagedara, Joint Secretary for the year 2018/19.
Followed by the Secretary’s Report, a video clip reflecting the projects which were done in the last year was presented ; a walk down the memory lane.
Rtr. Senura Jayaweera, the Outgoing President for the year 2018/19 addressed the gathering with words of gratitude to his dedicated board of directors, while congratulating the upcoming board of directors.
Along with an interesting introduction full of light- hearted humor by Rtr. Vidushith Jayasundara, the President of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayawardenapura, the official title was then passed to the President for the year 2019/20, Rtr. Rivi Wijeratne.
The President for the year 2019/20, Rtr. Rivi Wijeratne then addressed the audience with his vision of reviving a new dawn of a new beginning in the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya.

The words of wisdom and inspiration by the dignitaries, Vice President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown Rotarian Shaheen Carder, Co- District Rotaract Committee Chairperson Rotarian Sohan Perera, District Rotaract Representative Rotaractor Past President Krishan Balaji added glamour and elegance to the ceremony as they extended their well wishes and greetings.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to the distinguished guests appreciating their valuable presence.A remarkable event in the Ceremony was marked with the launch of the first official website of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya in celebration of the 10th Installation.
Moreover, certificates of appreciation were handed over to the past board of directors for the tremendous service they have rendered for the betterment of the club.
The night was added a different hue with the presentation of a musical item by a group of our very own Rotaractors.
The 10th Installation Ceremony marked its end with the vote of thanks delivered by the Joint Secretary Rtr. Parami Mallawarachchi.
The legacy which was brought forth so far by the untiring efforts of young people who worked as one in heart, one in soul ,thus marked another milestone in the legendary tale of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya with its 10th glorious Installation Ceremony.
As a club that strives to strengthen true sense of fellowship, better friendships, and promote the essence of humanity, we are happy at the service we have rendered so far. We, as one family will strive forth to be the reflection of excellence while giving our best to the community, to make a positive difference in the world.
