THE 6TH INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF THE ROTARACT CLUB OF UNIVERSITY OF KELANIYA

“Dream” is to dream of all the ways possible to make our world a better place.

“Serve” is to serve mankind and to achieve our dreams.

“Relish” is to look back one day and be proud of what we did as Rotaractors.

With the theme “Dream. Serve. Relish”, the 6th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya was concluded successfully on the 23rd of September 2015, at the Sasakawa Cultural Centre, Colombo 03. The Incoming President Rtr. Thilina Nimantha and his board were officially handed over the responsibilities of the club for the Rotaract year 2015/2016. The project was chaired by Joint Secretaries Rtr. Roshana Ali and Rtr. Yoshana Premarathne.

The proceedings of the event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest and the other dignitaries, which was followed by the lighting of the oil lamp. The Chief Guest was the Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown; Rtn. PHF Pirasaanth Jegathesesan, and the Guest Honor was the Youth Services Committee Chair; Rtn.PHF.PP Farzana Khan. District Rotaract Committee Chairman; Rtn.PHF.PP. Saifudeen Adamaly and District Rotaract Representative, Rtr.PHF.PP Sathiyeandra Tharmakulerajasingham were the other dignitaries present.

The co-chairperson of the Installation Ceremony, Rtr. Yoshana Premarathne, presented the welcome address, which was followed up by the secretary’s report for the efficacious and exuberant year of 14/15, presented by the Outgoing Secretary, Rtr. Erandi Kuruppuarachchi.

Following which, the Outgoing President, Rtr. Tidi Abeysekara addressed the gathering, and shared his intriguing experiences in bringing the club to where it stands today. He, then officially handed over the responsibilities of the club by collaring Rtr. Thilina Nimantha as the 6th president of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya.
Rtr. Thilina, the Incoming President took the podium and spoke of his vision of making the RCUOK the best club in the District. He further mentioned of his opportunity of adjoining to the tremendous and admirable initiatives undertaken by the past presidents of the club, meanwhile taking a step ahead with the powerful theme of the club, ‘Dream. The podium was then turned over to the dignitaries. The District Rotaract Representative, Rtr.PHF.PP Sathiyeandra Tharmakulerajasingham, better known as Shakthi, addressed the gathering. Rtr. Shakthi, acclaimed that he’s proud to see such a relatively young club grow from strength to strength in such a short time span.

The District Rotaract Committee Chair, Rtn.PHF.PP. Saifudeen Adamaly then shared his thoughts with the gathering.  He stated that since the inception, the club has carried out a considerable number of noteworthy projects, rendering a great service to the society, and particularly mentioned that our theme “Dream. Serve. Relish” is very fitting with the today’s environment.

Following the agenda, one of the most eminent young artists in Sri Lanka, Sachith Peiris mesmerized the audience with his melodious voice, and it indeed added glamour to the event.

The podium was then taken over by the Guest of Honour for the evening, District Youth Services Chair, Rtn.PHF.PP Farzana Khan. She was undeniably fascinated by the unique and prolific theme of decoration of the ceremony. She mentioned that being a Rotaractor gives us an added advantage in our professions for to the experience we get.

Following the proceedings, the Chief Guest for the evening, Rtn. PHF IPP Pirasaanth Jegathesan then addressed the gathering. Ending all the formalities, the Incoming Joint Secretary Rtr. Roshana Ali, proposed the vote of thanks, for each and every individual who helped in making the event a success.

Thus, the 6th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya remarked the end. The committee wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished guests, Rotarians, Friends in Rotaract, friends of Rotaract and Interactors, for gracing the event and helping to make it a success.  Further, special mention has to be given on the Director- CGU, Dr. Narada Fernando, and the Senior Treasurer, Dr. D. U. Mohan, for their tremendous contribution towards the club. This would have been just a dream, if not for the hard work, dedication and commitment of the amazing rotactors of the University of Kelaniya. Their fullest contribution towards making the 6th Installation Ceremony of RCUoK a success, should be highly appreciated!
