Christmas is all about sharing love and happiness. Staying true to the true meaning of Christmas, the Rotaract club of university of Kelaniya joined hands with Rotaract club of Colombo uptown in planning Christmas Cheers – an elder home visit to celebrate Christmas. The even happened on the 8th of December 2018 at St. Camilus Home for Elders.
The project which was initiated under the community service avenue of club was chaired by the co-directors of the respective avenue Rtr. NavodyaWeerapura and Rtr. Prasadi Amarasignhe. Christmas decorations at the venue were completed by the Rotaract club of university of Kelaniya while the gifts items and the food prepared for the all the elders were supplied by the Rotaract club of Colombo uptown.
The main events of the day included entertainment activities. Since the objective of our project was to let all the members at the elders’ home feel the true Christmas cheers, our programme included evets such as singing, dancing, interactive speech with the members, story sharing and gift sharing. Bring a smile to their faces was our greatest achievement that day. Seeing their happiness, we knew, as servers to the society, we succeeded.
In doing small acts of kindness each day, we pave the way to a world of greater good. And it is in seeing the world evolving into something greater that we can truly be content.
