Suwisal: Illuminating Pathways to Inclusive Education

Energized by the goal of equitable and quality education, Team 7, Luminars of Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, unleashed an ambitious project known as “Suwisal”. Under the mirror of RotaTomorrow 5.0, Project “Suwisal” reflects its true vision and essence and contributes for the studentship of the island. This noble venture unfolded in three ambitious stages, each crafted to set the benchmark even higher as we progress along.

In the introductory phase of Project “Suwisal”, on the 3rd of April 2025, the team’s vision took its shape at Dharmaraja College, Mahara-Nugegoda, where an activity room decorated with eye-catching elements like animated diagrams, hand-crafted charts and diagrams awaited the students at Dharmaraja college. The aim of the phase 01 is to create a sustainable learning environment inspired by the 5S methodology. This learning space is bestowed upon the students so as to make their school life along with their academic lives more colorful. The dedication and the collaborative efforts of the team mates set the first milestone of Team Luminars.

Phase 02 of Project “Suwisal” managed to leave an ever-lasting impression on free and equitable education with the inauguration of Digital Audio Library on 9th of April 2025 at the premises of University of Kelaniya. This space is accessible for all the students. However, the accommodation of an exclusive collection of audiobooks specially for visually impaired students is what distinguishes this library space among the rest of traditional libraries. This space also makes sure that those students are never neglected in terms of quality education. Furthermore, on this day, Team Luminars successfully bestowed this digital space upon the safe hands of the Library of University of Kelaniya for its future succession and maintenance.

Phase 03 of Project “Suwisal” was also concluded successfully on 11th of April 2025 at St. Anna Children’s’ home and Kadirana Maha Vidyalaya. On this day, Team Luminars made many donations of stationeries along with some other items.

With the consistent dedication and efforts of Team Luminars, Project “Suwisal” was successfully concluded and bridged the gap between imaginations and reality with flying colours.
