Since its inauguration in year 2010 the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya has come a long way, being active in its mission to serve the community and striving to achieve the best. After eight years of its great mission, the 9th Installation Ceromony of the club was held on 6th of October, 2018, at the Olympic House Auditorium.
Being a club that values great ambition, we decided “Unveiling Dreams” as this year’s theme. As a club that was instituted to not only perform their duty to the society, but also bring education through experience and refinement of aptitudes of each individual within the club, together we are hoping to work towards our goals, making the expectations come true for not only those we hope to serve, but also our own Rotaractors who dream on serving, helping and learning. The event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest for the event, the President of Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown, Rotarian, Paul Harris Fellow Normal Wijayaratne.
Following the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the guests were welcomed by the project chairperson, Co-Director for Club Service, Rtr. Devika Pathirage. The Secretary’s Report was then presented by the Joint Secretaries for the year 2017-18 Rtr. Sherami Ranasinghe and Rtr. Sandamini Gunawardhane and was followed by a video of a collection of memories from the previous Rotaract Year, reminiscing their experiences and achievements. Outgoing President Rtr. Shivantha Dawson then made his speech to the audience, concluding his words with special thanks to his colleagues and well-wishes to the upcoming directors.
The President for the year 2018-19, Rtr. Senura Jayaweera was officially given the title after an interesting introduction to him. Rtr. Senura made an impressive speech about the club with its newly set goals and aims and followed up his speech with equally interesting introductions to the new Board of Directors with his light-hearted humour.
And thus, here is the power team for the year 2018-19 of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya.

Speeches by the dignitaries including Chief Guest Rtn. PHF, Normal Wijayaratne and District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Past President Amjath Yoosuf were made as the event progressed towards its end. The inspiring speeches of these individuals too was followed with greetings and well wishes for the upcoming endeavours.
Thereupon, tokens of appreciation were presented to the guests in gratitude for their presence in the event along with the certificates for the past Board of Directors acknowledging their services to the club. As all good things come to an end, the 9th Installation Ceromony of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya too came to an end with the felicitation of all the guest Rotaract Clubs and other well wishers.
As a club that strives to dream big, serve with love and kindness and relish in seeing great things achieved, the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya thus opened a new chapter in their glorious story. And so we will sail together this journey, in search of great destinations and with the aim of unveiling all that we dream.
