WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY 2016

 

Kosala Dullewa Foundation together with the Rotaract District 3220 (Sri Lanka) jointly organized “World Down Syndrome Day – Sri Lanka 2016” for the fourth successful year on the 26th of March 2016 at Royal College, Colombo 07. The project was jointly hosted by the Rotaract Clubs of University of Colombo Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Management & Finance, and Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, University of Moratuwa, University of Sri Jayewardenepura,  University of Peradeniya, Rotaract Club of Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and the Interact Club of Royal College. Representing our club the project was chaired by Rtr. Yasasi Bandaranayaka and Rtr. Harindu Dharshana .

The chief guest of the event was Ms. Pooja Umashankar.

There were about 500 participants and 20 schools island wide representing the regions especially Batticaloa, Matara and Kandy.

The event comprised of health camp, variety show and art competition.

HEALTH CAMP

The health camp was conducted by the Royal College Doctors Association and assisted by rotaractors and medical students. This constituted the following clinics,

  • Eye
  • ENT
  • Pediatric /General
  • Dental
  • Dermatology
  • Cardiology
  • Physiotherapy
  • Counseling

ART COMPETITION

The art competition named “Sithaka siththam” was successfully conducted with the receipt of nearly 900 arts representing all age groups.

VARIETY SHOW

The variety show was conducted in order to give the down syndrome kids an opportunity to show their aesthetic talents where 10 schools participated along with KDF.
