As the calendar pages flipped to December, the Club Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya decked the halls with boughs of holy with the annual Christmas extravaganza, Christinzel ’23.

Christinzel was more than just an event; it was a celebration of love, compassion, and the joy of coming together in the warmth of shared moments.

The night sparkled with festive lights as members of the Rotaract Club of the University of Kelaniya, past members of the club as well and many other non-Rotaractors gathered for their much anticipated annual Christmas gathering.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome speech by the project co-chair, Rtr. Kusal Jayasooriya, sets the tone for a night of laughter, joy, and cherished moments. And next, the echoes of classic Christmas carols filled the air, as talented members of the Catholic Student Movement of the university brought everyone together in the spirit of the season. Then, the  President of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, Rtr. Roshan Rathanayake took the stage, expressing heartfelt wishes for a joyful holiday season. Next, the dance floor came alive with a vibrant dance performance by some young girls and boys from the university.

Next, it was District Rotaract Representative Rtr. PP. Sathma Jayasinghe, graced the gathering with inspiring words, highlighting the power of collective efforts in making a positive change.

Laughter echoed as participants engaged in a unique Christmas game, the Christinzel edition of hat exchange. With a mix of creativity and festive spirit, it added an extra touch of whimsy to the gathering.

The highlight of the night was the Secret Santa gift exchange. And to do the gift exchange, with a twinkle in his eye, a sack full of gifts slung over his shoulder and a hearty “Ho, ho, ho,” Santa Claus made a grand entrance to Christinzel, filling the room with warm smiles and hearty laughs. The room was filled with excitement as the members exchanged carefully wrapped gifts, spreading surprises and revealing thoughtful tokens of friendship.

A melodious song by past Rtr. Dinura Liyanage created a melodic tapestry that resonated with the joy of the season. A delectable dinner was given to all the participants while the lovely couples took on a wonderful challenge with enthusiasm, showcasing their love together with a dash of competitive spirit. The room filled with laughter as partners tackled fun dares, strengthening bonds and creating memories to cherish.

The winners of the games and the winners of the raffle draw and TikTok challenge conducted as a part of the project were rewarded with special gifts, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already jubilant evening.

The event concluded with a heartfelt thank-you speech by the project co-chair, Rtr. Imashini Hewage, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of Christinzel. With no doubt, the Rotaract spirit of service and celebration had truly illuminated the night.

As the DJ spun the final tunes, everyone danced their way into the night, cherishing the memories created at Christinzel ‘23.

As the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya wrapped up another successful Christmas celebration, it had once again proven to be a magical evening, fostering joy, and the true spirit of the season. In this annual Christmas gathering, they found not just an event but a celebration of unity and the true spirit of Christmas.

So, as the beautiful party people dispersed, they carried with them the warmth and the joy of shared experiences, and the promise of another Christinzel on the horizon.
