LeadX: Empowering Undergraduates to Lead Technological Breakthroughs

LeadX was a technology-driven initiative launched with the vision of empowering Sri Lankan undergraduates to become future technology leaders. The project focused on developing technical knowledge, innovation skills, collaboration, and leadership qualities through a series of impactful activities designed to inspire technological advancement among youth.

Phase 01 – Tech Workshop with Binance Academy

The first phase of LeadX focused on enhancing students’ understanding of emerging technologies. In collaboration with Binance Academy, a technology workshop on blockchain fundamentals and the Binance platform was conducted at the university premises with the participation of over 100 undergraduates.

The session was designed to simplify complex technological concepts and make them accessible to beginners. Through interactive discussions, practical examples, and a question-and-answer session, participants gained valuable insights into blockchain technology and modern digital platforms while strengthening their industry awareness.

Phase 02 – InovaX Innovation-Sharing Platform

To encourage innovation and collaboration among students, LeadX introduced InovaX, a dedicated innovation-sharing platform. The platform was developed to provide students with a space to share ideas, connect with peers from different universities, and build innovation-focused profiles.

Following its launch, students actively participated by publishing innovative concepts, exchanging feedback, and collaborating on ideas. The platform successfully created a community that promoted creativity, knowledge sharing, and cross-university interaction while providing visibility for student innovations.

Phase 03 – InnovaX Tech Competition

Building upon the success of the platform, LeadX organized the InnovaX Tech Competition, providing students with an opportunity to present their ideas in a professional environment.

Ideas submitted through the InovaX platform were evaluated based on innovation, creativity, and practical value before progressing through several stages of assessment. The competition concluded with an online pitching session where finalists presented their projects to a panel of industry experts. Participants received valuable feedback and exposure while developing their confidence, presentation abilities, and problem-solving skills. The competition also recognized and rewarded innovative ideas with real-world potential.

Phase 04 – IT Education Program

The final phase extended the project’s impact to the school community through an IT education program conducted for Grade 11 students at Habarakada Junior School.

The sessions focused on simplifying key Information Technology concepts, improving practical understanding, and supporting O/L examination preparation. Through structured lessons, real-life examples, interactive discussions, and examination guidance, students were able to strengthen their knowledge and build confidence in approaching their studies.

Through these four phases, LeadX successfully created opportunities for learning, innovation, and collaboration, empowering both university and school students to embrace technology and contribute to Sri Lanka’s future development.
