Mother’s Day

“Motherhood is the greatest thing and the hardest thing.”– Ricki Lake.

A parent, a teacher, the closest friend, and even a shoulder to weep on.  It’s incredible how a single individual can fill so many roles in your life and that person is the mother. Mother’s Day which is celebrated on the 8th of May 2022, is a worldwide celebration commemorating mothers. This day celebrates all mothers and mother figures who dedicate their lives to their families, children, and society.

Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia, whose mother had started women’s groups to promote friendship and health, established Mother’s Day. On the May 12th, 1907, she held a memorial service at her late mother’s church in Grafton, West Virginia. Within five years, practically every state recognized the day, and President Woodrow Wilson of the United States designated it a national holiday in 1914.

You may show your affection for your mother with a sincere letter or card thanking her for everything she has done up to this point. To make her feel loved, prepare meals for the day and buy her flowers or design a personalized present. You may even take her out to supper or on a sightseeing tour.

These are just a few Mother’s Day celebration ideas, but you should be creative and come up with your own way to make your mother feel loved and appreciated.
