“On The Way”, or more commonly known as #OTW is a signature project of UNFPA, which is an evidence based advocacy process to recognize sexual harassment in public transport and other gender based violence issues. This project is a brainchild of Naushalya Rajapakse, a Social Change Entrepreneur at UNFPA
The Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, making its first attempt in providing more knowledge about day today sexual harassment , identifying the causes and discovering ways in which we could prevent such harassment from our society organized an interactive training session for a selected group of undergraduates, which was held on the 2nd of September at the UN Compound.
The session was initiated by the Rtr. Yoshana Premaratne (Joint Secretary) and Rtr. Ravindu Tharaka (Tresurer) which was organized as a #TOT – Training for trainers of the projects #OTW in order to give a clear idea to the RCUOK rotaractors who have the intention of carrying out this project in future very successfully. The project #OTW is consist of four main sectors.
- Advocacy process
- National Survey
- Young improvement process
- The causes of sexual harassment
A clear idea regarding the project was given by the resource personal and making the session more interesting and energetic a few activities were also taken place as;
- Ice – Ice baby
- Selfie moment
- Sex Boxing
- Thread Activity
#OTW – #TOT session was carried out very successfully and the session was very interactive in order to get a better idea about how we should act regarding sexual harassment. Throughout the session what mainly highlighted was no matter how we think and speak the change for a better society should start by ourselves. The society and the world need a change and an awakening regarding this topic but the process should start firstly by our selves.
This session is remarked as the first step of a huge journey and RCUOK rotaractors will put their maximum effort to assist the project #OTW.
