A group of Rotaractors who were determined to spend their weekend in a useful and a productive way thought about lending their helping hands to those who require kindness and care. Therefore, we visited the YMBA Maharagama (the lodgings of the cancer patients receiving medication from the Apeksha hospital) on the 30th of August 2020 with handfuls of presents donated by our kind and generous Rotaractors.

We were welcomed warmly by the dwellers of the lodgings and it was a pleasure to see the sincere smiles of happiness spread all over their faces. Every corner of the place was cleaned by us and the dormitories and the library were rearranged.

As always it is our united effort as Rotaractors that keeps us going forward on this journey towards making our world a better place. Even though it was a tiresome day that we had with all the cleaning and washing, their contented smiles of appreciation made our day worthwhile.
We donated them the everyday essentials collected by us and it was a pleasure to see how our little act of kindness could make an everlasting impact on their lives. The conversations we had with them inspired us to serve the community furthermore.

The project “Rakawarana” organized by the Community Service avenue, chaired by Rtr. Mahima Wijethunge under the guidance of the Co-Directors Rtr. Nethmi Fonseka and Rtr. Gimhani Rathnayake was undoubtedly a great success due to the tireless dedication of our Rotaractors those who sacrificed their time and energy voluntarily!
