Grecian history honors heroism immensely. The Peloponnesian wars gave birth to a lot of such heroes and King Leonidas from Sparta also sacrificed his life to protect the Hellenic land from the Persians at the pass of Thermopylae. Persians were guided through an alternative path while the Greeks were betrayed and therefore history marks a victory for the Xerxes. Yet the honor of the Grecian heroism led by Leonidas the monarch flies through the lands and waters even today!
