The Career MasterMIND 2017

“Passion is the difference between having a job and having a career”

“The Career MasterMIND” is a Professional Development project conducted by the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya with the primary objective of amalgamating the local academic arena with the corporate world to empower the undergraduates of universities of Sri Lanka who expect to follow a career path in future. The project was held on the 3rd of April 2017 at the university premises from 4.30 p.m. onward, in order to support them to face those future challenges and to encourage them to reach the expected competency level in the job market. The Project was chaired by Rtr. Ashen Aponso (Co – Director of Professional Development).

As the Initial program of the project a lecture on CV and portfolio writing, personnel grooming, etiquette and interview facing was conducted by Chaya Wickramadara a very active Toastmaster for the last 7 years who currently serves Toastmasters International as an Area Director. The Lecture was conduct for 45 minutes which was an effective time filled with knowledge and laughter.

As the Entertainment Item of the event Mr. Janaka Sampath, one of the Final Ten Contestant in the 2016 Sirasa Super Star program, performed three Songs refreshing the minds of the participants enabling them to grab more in the final session which was the most important item on the agenda.

The final session of the event was an HR Forum which was conducted with the participation of facilitators representing MAS Holdings, Unilever, NDB and Sri Lanka Youth Parliament. Rtr. Darshatha (Former Professional Development Director) fulfilled the role of the mediator and conducted the Forum. In the HR Forum the recent recruitment and HR related issues were initially discussed with each facilitator from each company covering different industries through his/her answers. Finally a Q and A session was conducted giving participants the opportunity to question the facilitators regarding the issues they have about the topic.

Each speaker who participated for “The Career MasterMIND 2017” made the entire evening an effective and a memorable one for the participants who thrive in their thirst for knowledge which in  the end made the entire event a tremendous success.
