“Ging Gang Goolie” Genesis 2019 (Outbound Training)

For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” – Aristotle

Learning and leadership are indispensable in our lives. Learning allows us to explore the leader hidden within all of us. It opens up new doors of wisdom and exposure. It makes us develop numerous social skills as well as to face the world with confidence and strength.

Hence, in order to develop the social skills such as team work, patience and coordination through learning, one has to step out of one’s comfort zone and expand the boundaries to reach new places and heights.

The outbound Training camp, another project of the club service avenue, was held on the 7th and 8th of September 2019 at Lee Dassanayake scouts center Mirigama, with the aid of Kandy district president scouts and president guides association. It became a success as it helped to improve the prior mentioned skills of the participants.

All the activities organized were lenient in developing the leadership and teamwork skills. These activities were supported by an enthusiastic team of organizers who navigated the teams through the activities while letting the team members entertain themselves during the process.

Not only the activities but everything else were well organized and coordinated methodically. The food, accommodation and the facilities were all adequate and satisfying.

The most enjoyable experience was the camp fire which turned into a fiesta of dancing and singing, which was certainly one of the major highlights of the event.

Moreover, the OBT programme made all the participants achieve the goals of Rotaract in creating better friendships and promoting true sense of fellowship transcending all the barriers.

With all the fun and enjoyment, the members got to know each other; their hidden potentials, abilities, and capabilities.

The directors of the Club Service avenue, Rtr. Poornima Aththanayake and Rtr. Vishma Perera and the joint secretary Rtr.Nemindi Rathnayake deserve a huge appreciation for their untiring effort in coordinating the programme. This memorable programme marked a special day in our Rotaract calendar, with all the memories it gave us to cherish for a lifetime!!!
