‘පැන්සල’ is a project that was organized by the Community Service Avenue under the direction and guidance of the co-directors, Rtr. Thivangi Jayasinghe and Rtr. Chathura Athukorala. Focused on the three main subjects: English, Mathematics, and Science, the project was held to benefit the students who sit for the O/L examination in December 2019.

The project took place from the 16 of October onwards. One day was allocated for each subject.

Six underprivileged schools from six provinces were selected for the project. They are as follows. Magammana Maha Vidyalaya from Western Province, Hinatigala Shariputhra Maha Vidayalaya from Southern Province, Diyathalawa Maha Vidyalaya from Uva Province, Polgollawatta Maha Vidyalaya from Central Province, Hamangalla Maha Vidyalaya from North Western Province, and Nagalakanda Maha Vidyalaya from North Central Province.

Papers for each subject were set by the club and taught to the students by the club members as well as volunteers, representing various faculties in the university.

The project ‘පැන්සල’ achieved its objectives and therefore became one of the milestone projects conducted by the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya.

The principals and the staff members of each school gave a huge contribution to make this project a success. Moreover, the students attended each day with much enthusiasm and eagerness.

As for the young teachers who volunteered for the project, they gained a tremendous experience.
